Upcoming Events

Lynn Swann, who was the Pennslyvania Republican Gubernatorial Candidate in 2006, will be in Blount County August 13 & 14. Swann  remains active in the Republican Party and is expected to run for public office in the future. Swann is the 2010 honorary chairperson for the Charles M. Hall Alumni Association Scholarship Foundation.

After a successful NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Swann has been very active in his community. Since 1980, Lynn Swann has been the National Spokesman for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, as well as serving on their National Board of Directors. Lynn Swann also served as chairman of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports from June 20, 2002 to July 30, 2005, and generously provided over 100 scholarships to the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001.

Swann will be the guest of the Charles M. Hall Alumni Association and will be featured at a reception at the Capitol Theatre on August 13th. Tickets for the reception are $35.00. Also, the Association will hold the 2nd Annual Wade Houston Scholarship Tournament on August 14th at Pine Lakes Golf Course in Rockford, TN. This is a major fund raising event that will allow the Association to provide college scholarships to deserving graduating High School Seniors from our community  in 2011.

FRIDAY AUGUST 13TH

2:30 PM - Lynn Swann will speak before Alcoa High School students

7 - 10 PM -  There will be a reception at the Capitol Theater in Maryville for Mr. Swann.  An auction will also be held.  Signed items from Lynn Swann, Allan Houston, Pat Summit, Bruce Pearl, Phil Fulmer, etc. will be available to the highest bidder.

SATURDAY AUGUST 14TH

11AM - 1 PM -  Lunch will be available to all participating golfers for the tournament.  There will also be the opportunity for teams to take pictures with Lynn (for a cost) as well as meet Allan Houston (former UT All-American and NY Knicks All-Star) prior to the start of the tournament.

1:30 PM - Golf tournament begins.
