Backroom Deals Persist in Washington Over Health Care Bill

WASHINGTON- Despite public outrage over the infamous “Cornhusker Kickback” and “Louisiana Purchase,” which essentially bribed Democrat Sens. Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana with taxpayer-funded projects in their states to vote for the Senate Health Care Reform bill, the Obama Administration continues to use ethically-questionable backroom deals to muster Congressional support for the health care bill.  This time, the President’s latest instance of quid pro quo involves Tennessee Democrat Congressmen Bart Gordon of Murfreesboro and John Tanner of Union City.  Rumors are circulating throughout Washington that these two men were offered federal jobs in exchange for their support of the bill.  According to reports from Instapundit, Rep. Gordon was offered the job of NASA Administrator, while Rep. Tanner was offered the position of U.S. Ambassador to NATO.

It’s becoming clear that as public support for the health care bill dwindles, President Obama must resort to more and more crookedly aggressive and politically subversive tactics to try and force this bill down the throats of the American people.  What’s even more apparent is that these two congressmen were all too willing to sell out the citizens of Tennessee for their own personal gain.  Sadly, the President is having no trouble finding other Democrat accomplices like Gordon and Tanner to act in complicity with his plans to waste taxpayer dollars on other Beltway bribes all so that Americans will be forced into an inefficient, expensive, and bureaucratically-burdened system of nationalized health care.  It is the sincerest hope of the Blount County Republican Party that the voters will not forget these shameful acts committed on behalf of the Democrats in Washington come November.
