The Blount County Republican Party is pleased to announce that it will hold a Reagan Commemorative Dinner in lieu of its usual Lincoln Day Dinner this year in honor of the nation's 40th President.  The new year would have marked President Reagan's 100th birthday.

The keynote speaker will be Mr. James Bopp Jr., Republican National Committeeman from Indiana and RNC Midwestern Regional Vice Chairman.  Aside from his extensive background in national Republican politics, Mr. Bopp also boasts a law degree from the University of Florida and serves as the general counsel for National Right to Life and as a special counsel for Focus on the Family.  As a founding member of the RNC Conservative Caucus, Mr. Bopp worked alongside Tennessee's own Republican National Committeewoman Peggy Lambert to devise and draft a resolution encouraging the RNC to only finance Republican candidates campaigning on true Republican principles according to President Reagan's Unity Principle.

The dinner will be held on Thursday, April 7th at 6:00 PM at William Blount High School.  Tickets are currently on sale  for $25 each.  To purchase tickets, please contact Blount GOP Chairman Susan Mills via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Tennessee's New Governor

Last Updated on Sunday, 16 January 2011 17:58 Sunday, 16 January 2011 17:25

On Saturday, January 15th, Tennesseeans witnessed the swearing-in of their new Republican governor.  Former Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam was sworn in as Tennessee's 49th governor at the state capitol in Nashville, succeeding outgoing Democrat Gov. Phil Bredesen.  Gov. Haslam takes office with newly-elected wide Republican majorities in both the State House and the State Senate, and governs alongside two other groundbreaking Republican officials- Senate Speaker and Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, and newly-elected House Speaker Beth Harwell.  The new year will mark the first time in Tennessee history since the post-Civil War era that Republicans will be in control of both chambers of the state legislature and the state executive.  The Blount County Republican Party would like to thank all of our fellow Blount County Republicans who helped elect such conservative, responsible leadership to our state government.  Along with all of our newly-elected local Republican officials, we will surely see great strides in the direction of better, more conservative government.
